God's Eye
Operational Awareness · Live

Every flight. Every ship. Every event. One globe.

God's Eye unifies ADS-B aircraft tracking, AIS maritime data, satellite orbits, seismic activity, natural disasters, geopolitical incidents, space weather, and military installations into a single interactive 3D globe — all streaming from publicly available intelligence sources, all updating in real time.

The Globe

Twelve real-time layers. One viewport.

Aircraft, vessels, satellites, seismic events, natural disasters, geopolitical incidents — every layer streams from public intelligence sources onto a single 3D wireframe globe. Toggle any layer in or out; click any object for a full intelligence dossier.

Aircraft Intelligence

From signal to complete dossier.

ADS-B is just position, callsign, and a 24-bit hex code. God's Eye chains four lookups to turn that raw broadcast into operator, airframe type, registration, and route — for any of the thousands of aircraft visible right now.

Decode pipeline

1
ADS-B broadcast
airplanes.live · ~1Hz per aircraft
Position, altitude, ground speed, vertical rate, callsign, hex code. Polled in batches every 8 seconds.
2
Airline ICAO decode
Callsign prefix → operator
First 3 chars of the callsign map to the operating airline via a built-in ICAO table — QFA → Qantas, UAL → United, RCH → US Air Force.
3
Hex code fallback
ADSBdb · for military & unmapped
Unknown callsigns fall through to a hex-keyed registry; assigns "Military" label or specific airframe owner for the long-tail aircraft no airline table covers.
4
Route resolution
ADSBdb route API
Callsign → origin + destination airport. Honest "not published" hint when the callsign isn't in the registry (common for military and private flights).
Maritime Tracking

Every transponder on the seas. Streamed live.

AIS — Automatic Identification System — is the global standard for vessel position broadcasting. God's Eye subscribes to AISStream via WebSocket and renders every cargo ship, tanker, passenger vessel, and registered naval ship within the visible viewport.

Orbital Surveillance

Six hundred objects, propagated live.

CelesTrak publishes Two-Line Element sets (TLEs) for every tracked object in orbit. God's Eye runs SGP4 propagation in the browser via satellite.js — turning TLEs into live latitude/longitude/altitude every animation frame, then mapping straight onto the globe.

Military Installations

Nine thousand bases. Country-filtered.

OpenStreetMap's Overpass API exposes the largest public dataset of military installations — airfields, naval bases, barracks, ranges, depots. God's Eye fetches and caches them statically (instant loads, no rate-limit pressure), then filters in-browser by country with searchable autocomplete.

Geopolitical Event Feed

Every flashpoint. Pinned to a location.

An ACLED-format event stream — armed clashes, protests, coercion, civilian targeting — categorised and geo-coded. Each event is pinned to its coordinates on the globe; the activity-feed ticker rolls continuously in the dashboard sidebar.

Two often-overlooked layers: NOAA's Kp planetary geomagnetic index (5+ disrupts radio and GPS; 7+ takes out power grids); and Cloudflare Radar's near-real-time internet-outage detection across countries and regions.

Performance & Rendering

Twenty thousand objects. Sixty frames a second.

A naive globe renderer that drew every flight, ship, satellite, base, and event would melt mid-tier hardware. God's Eye is built around three rendering strategies that scale to a single static page rendering tens of thousands of live objects without dropping frames.

Time-Travel & Locate

Rewind the world. Find anything.

A horizontal time slider replays history across every layer — see where a vessel was three hours ago, watch a wildfire grow over a week, scroll back through seismic activity. A global locate-target search jumps the globe to any city, callsign, hex code, MMSI, or NORAD ID.

Tech Stack

Boring tech, doing boring tech things reliably.

A single static HTML entry, one serverless function for the AISStream key, and a handful of public APIs. No build step — Babel transforms JSX in the browser. The complexity is all in the rendering and the source plumbing.
